THE CAMBRIDGE HEALTH ALLIANCE
SPRING HILL GARDEN
About the Garden
The Cambridge Health Alliance(CHA), is a health organization which provides high quality healthcare to the Cambridge, Somerville, and Boston’s metro north communities. The CHA includes three hospitals, and a strong network of primary care and specialty practices. Furthermore, the CHA has teaching affiliation with Harvard Medical School, the Harvard School of Public Health, Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and the Tufts University School of Medicine.
For the past 7 years the CHA maintained the The Spring Hill Garden located beside the CHA School of Nursing. Director Lisa Brukilacchio began the garden in 2010, to play a more active role in increase access to healthy food and raise awareness for the importance of health and wellness. The garden has 13 raised beds and supplies fresh produce to local food pantries and residential programs.
Due to external circumstances the CHA garden has plans to relocated for the Spring 2017 season to a residential program called Womanplace. Womanplace serves a transitional residential home for adult women in recovery. This new garden will serve not only as a food source for the residents but also as a opportunity for the residents to develop valuable skills.
